Creating Christmas cheer through costume creativity!
When it comes to planning a bumper Christmas party or a memorable way to pass the silly season, especially with younger family members, it really pays off to get creative with your Christmas costumes. If you cast your mind back to festive feasts with family and friends, and we're talking casting your mind way, way back to the Christmas celebrations of your childhood, it never occurred to you that the visiting Santa Claus was really Uncle Frank or the boss of your dad's company at a family-friendly work Christmas function.
It was all part of the magic of Christmas, and even though the years have passed, that doesn't mean that the magic has to necessarily pass by as well. The best thing about Christmas costumes is that it's so simple to put together a Santa Clause costume, stuff a sack full of presents, and then give every child at the party a special gift to mark the occasion. Santa Claus costumes are easy to make, and even easier to buy come November and December, and almost everyone knows what Santa Claus wears as part of his traditional outfit. Think red suit, black boots, a few white fur trimmings for the cuffs, and of course don't forget his hat! No Santa fancy dress is complete without a little bit of a belly and a lot of beard – so take that into consideration when casting your Santa Claus, otherwise you'll have to improvise!
Now with Santa covered for starters, this gives you the chance to make sure that everyone else is looking their best. Cute costumes for children are a cinch, as Santa always needs some accompanying elves! Think Santa costumes on a mini scale, perhaps with green to complement the red, and your kids will look a treat!
But here's the icing on the cake, so to speak – dog reindeers! Of course unless you're living in the North Pole you're not likely to have a few reindeer wandering around handy, but why not see if man's best friend is up to the task? A lot of people enjoy dressing up their dogs, and frankly, a lot of dogs enjoy the attention! Dog reindeer costumes, like all the aforementioned costumes and party supplies are available to purchase, but once again are simple to make with a little bit of a creative flourish and some nifty fingers willing to get to work. Dog reindeer costumes are only restricted by your imagination – and of course how much your dog is willing to wear – but felt antlers are virtually a must-have.
Happy ho-ho-holidays and have a wonderful time creating this Christmas!
